AFBE provides a platform for networking, knowledge-sharing, and advocacy to promote the success and continuity of family-owned businesses, and to tackle the unique challenges they face.
Registered in 2015, AFBE is the first association in Kenya purpose-built for this audience: independent of government, independent of politics, and entirely run by the family business owners it serves, working with business families and partners to support sustainable family business growth across the region.
AFBE engages family business owners through conferences, business clinics, seminars and trainings on the topical issues that shape family enterprise from governance to succession planning.

Joseph Okelo is the Co-Founder and Chairman of the Association of Family Business Enterprises, championing the growth, governance, leadership and continuity of family businesses across Kenya and East Africa.
His passion for family enterprise began at nine, when he watched his parents build a successful family business. Today, he combines that lived experience with his involvement in several family businesses, as well as his work as an entrepreneur, mentor, speaker and advocate for the next generation of African family business leaders.

Antoinette Wa-Tindi is a Co-Founder of the Association of Family Business Enterprises, where she has dedicated the past decade to creating the initiatives and experiences that bring family business owners together to learn, share and strengthen their businesses.
With a 20-year career in human capital, including managing HR for family-owned enterprises in hospitality, pharma and education, and as a certified family mediator, she brings a deep understanding of family dynamics to AFBE’s mission of strengthening family enterprise governance, leadership and legacy.
